CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support reflects the role of support workers who complete specialised tasks and effectively support older people in a wide range of personal care, community and social based activities and functions in aged services; either in residential, home or community-based environments.
This course will suit you if you have a passion for supporting older people, ensuring they have fulfilling and rewarding lives.
Workers will take responsibility for their own outputs within defined organisation guidelines and maintain quality service delivery through the development, facilitation and review of individualised service planning and delivery.
Workers may be required to demonstrate leadership and have limited responsibility for the organisation and the quantity and quality of outputs of others within limited parameters.

Aged care work is focused on providing personalised support to older individuals either in their own home or within an aged care facility. The work involves assisting individuals performing day to day functions ensuring they are living fulfilling lives and are active within their community.

Work is often undertaken in aged care residential facilities, government and community services agencies, and workers will:
18 units of study – 15 core and three elective units of competency. No pre-requisites.
The Australian Qualifications Framework determines that the duration of this qualification is 6 months – 2 years, however with both face-to-face training, and flexible online learning, learners are typically completing within the first 6 – 12 months. How quickly an individual is able to complete the course will depend on how fast they work through the content, their commitment to learning and their level of competence.
To achieve this qualification, you must complete 120 hours of work placement in a relevant ageing support workplace.
As most people undertaking this course will already be employed in the aged care sector, placement can be undertaken in most workplaces. However, for those not working in the sector, you will need to find your own work placement with an organisation approved by Skills Generation. It is important you commence this process at the beginning of the course.
Skills Generation staff and your trainer will be available to assist you in identifying relevant organisations. You will be covered by Skills Generation insurance when undertaking work placement as an enrolled learner and as part of the course requirements. If you are employed, you are covered by your workplace Workers Compensation policy. You will be responsible for the cost of any travel and accommodation associated with work placement.
For those learners already working in the aged care sector please work with your trainer to confirm if your employment can be used to demonstrate the required competencies of the unit.

On successful completion of this course you will receive the nationally recognised qualification:
CHC43015 Certificate IV in Ageing Support
The qualification is awarded by Skills Generation RTO 41008, with training and assessment delivered by Skills Generation or an approved Third Party training provider on behalf of Skills Generation.
The Commonwealth Government requires all learners undertaking nationally recognised, accredited training courses to have a Unique Student Identifier (USI). Learners are unable to enrol without their USI.
If you are currently working, or have previously worked in a relevant industry, you may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). RPL applies where you have workplace experience/competency that can be formally assessed against the units of competency in this course. If you wish to undertake an RPL process, please discuss with our Student Services enrolments team [email protected].
This is a fee for service course.
